Blog hop!

WordPress won’t let me post the actual blog hop so ho see it here!

Ahh organization, I’ve missed you.

I am very cool.  So cool in fact, that I have spent my Friday night so far printing and organizing knitting patterns.

(really need to make that blanket, just fyi)

I took and put two patterns in each page protector, (except the ones I had printed premium-style at Staples on accident)  each facing out for easy viewing.  I also printed a bunch I hadn’t yet, and put them all in a new binder.  Not new, but…different from the last one lol.  Pink too!  I also printed the pattern pieces for the hat pattern I’ve got for making Parker hats, as well as the grocery bag pattern I’ve never made, as well as my quilt pattern.

Speaking of said quilt pattern, I REALLY need to get on that.  I so want that finished!  I want to curl up with it on the couch at night, not stare at it partially sewn together on the ugly wall of my studio.  I have to sew one row of blocks together, and then 3 rows to each other, then that set of 3 rows to the set of 2 rows thats already together.  THEN…I have to sew up all the little border pieces, and then sew them to each other, then sew them to the top piece.  THEN get the backing situated, then sandwich it, then quilt it, then bind it, then I can curl up under it.  Ugh.  This was my birthday gift to myself.  In September.  It’s January.  Hurry up lady!

Guess whose quilt is finished?

That’s right, Parker’s!  I FINALLY bound Parker’s dr seuss quilt!

Why are we constantly beating ourselves up?

Why is it that we as mothers are always beating ourselves up?  Why is it that we(at least me…maybe its just me?)  are constantly cutting ourselves down for what we do as a mother?  I know I am always internally telling myself that I shouldn’t be doing this, no matter what it is I/we are doing.  If we’re watching cartoons, I’m reminding myself that he shouldn’t watch so much tv.  If I’m teaching him colors, I’m yelling at myself for him not knowing his colors better.  If I’m feeding him one thing for dinner, I’m yelling at myself for not feeding him something else/different/better.  It’s always the same story.  Why is it that I can’t just remember that I’m doing my best and he’s FINE.  He’s better than fine, he’s healthy, happy, well rounded.  He’s tall, skinny, mouthy, and your typical two year old.

So, note to self:  Give yourself a break!

The Wednesday Want…

Things I’ve been wanting lately…

Gabriella Rocha Boots

North Face Siena Bag

Zojirushi Rice Maker

Doodle Stitching

A new “needlework” goal

I am going to work on WIP’s till they’re finished.  That means no new damn projects.  This is the order in which I want them done:  (There will be a page at the top to chronicle this journey)

Moms Sweater

Wicked Ribs Socks

Tweed Central Park Hoodie

Double Heelix

Gray Central Park Hoodie

Entrelac Blanket

Toe up 2  @ a time socks

I’m also starting a few self imposed knitting clubs.  First, 12 pairs of socks in 2012.  12 sweaters in 2012.  If I finish 3 sweaters in January, (example only obviously lol) then that takes care of the “club” till the end of March.  I currently have three sweaters in progress, and 3 pairs of socks.

January Socks

February Socks

March Socks

January Sweater

February Sweater

March Sweater

Januarys socks are my Wicked Witch socks.  February will be Double Heelix, and March will be the tow up 2 at a time socks.  Sweater wise January will be my Mom’s sweater.  February will be my donegal tweed Central Park Hoodie.  March will be the misty gray wool of the andes Central Park Hoodie.  I’m going to add a page at the top for each of these “clubs” aka challenges.
